INTRODUCTION

HYDROSPHERE – One of the 3 most important spheres of earth that supports life. Water is an everyday necessity. The entire earth lies on the base of a simple compound H₂O. And its largest source is the oceans. You might think that oceans contain salt water which is unfit for domestic use but it plays a vital role in our life. It brings moisture to land, equable climate, tourism, recreation, medicine and food. Moreover, a different variety of life is enveloped underneath the waters which are an essential aspect in the food chain. Oceans balance atmospheric composition and stabilize the global temperatures. Today, we are misusing them for our greed. Our activities have caused depletion of ocean-health, its resources and diversity. It is time now that we get together to save our oceans. Let’s get ready to embark on this journey with TEAM VARUNA!!

       ABOUT US --TEAM VARUNA (Virtuous Aid and Rehabilitation of the Underwater by Negation of (plastic) Adulteration)

We are a team of 11 students from grade 9 and 10 accompanied guided and mentored by our two science teachers. We represent our CNM School at the unique school program named" Ocean matters- Safeguarding the oceans!" It is organized by the US consulate state general of Chennai, India in collaboration with TERI- the Energy and Resources Institute. With the support of our school, we aim to create a scientific disposition amongst our students over the environmental concerns surrounding and impacting the biosphere with a special look at the importance and degradation of ocean health!
